Jenifer Marks, MD, is board-certified in general and thoracic surgery. She received her medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine, and completed her residency in general surgery at New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center. Following residency, she went on to a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Marks treats a wide spectrum of benign and malignant thoracic conditions using advanced surgical techniques and is continually pursuing innovative treatment plans for her patients. Dr. Marks developed a special interest in lung cancer research during her time as a research fellow at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She further pursued her interest in lung and esophageal cancer during her time at MD Anderson Cancer Center and strives to provide the latest individualized multi-modality treatment for all thoracic malignancies. She also has a clinical interest in benign esophageal disease and offers a variety of minimally invasive surgical procedures for the treatment of gastro-esophageal reflux disease and achalasia. Dr. Marks has authored or co-authored more than 20 publications, chapters and abstracts on a wide variety of lung and esophageal conditions. She has presented her research nationally and internationally and has received awards for excellence in research from International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer. Dr. Marks also serves on the admissions committee for the University of Colorado School of Medicine and is an active member of numerous national and international organizations. In her free time, Jenifer enjoys running and hiking in the mountains of Colorado and beyond. She is also an avid skier and often travels to other mountainous destinations to pursue her outdoor interests.
