Kristen Alix, is a Vascular Nurse Practitioner with Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery Associates. She has worked with vascular patients for over 25 years. Kristen earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1992, from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As a new graduate, she worked as an RN in the Adult Critical Care Unit and Interventional Radiology Suite at Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center in Denver from 1992 to 2004. It was during this time, she developed a passion for taking care of patients with vascular diseases. Kristen was recruited to work at Vascular Institute of the Rockies in 1997, and was their clinical nurse until 2002. In 2003, she received her Master of Science from the University of Colorado, as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. At that time, the practice split, and she continued to work under Dr. Charles Brantigan in his Vascular Surgery Practice. In 2012, Dr. Brantigan chose to retire and moved his practice to the University of Colorado and Kristen continued her career there. At CU, Kristen was promoted to Senior Instructor in the Division of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy, and helped train many of the Advance Practice Providers while there. She also served on the National Board of Directors for the Society for Vascular Nursing from 2016 to 2018. In 2018, Kristen completed a Post-Master's Certificate in Adult- Gerontology Acute Care.
Kristen has worked for seven years at University Hospital, prior to her new role here at The Medical Center of Aurora. She is thrilled to be back with HealthOne. She is currently certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner, an Adult- Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, and a Cardiovascular Nurse. Outside of work, Kristen enjoys spending time with her husband and her two teenage sons, Christopher and Brenden.
